On Friday, October 18th, Glenwood students will participate in the annual Walk-a-thon. This event is a special Glenwood tradition that has raised over $178,000 for various non-profit organizations over the years.
This year again we are partnering with Bridges, a local non-profit organization based in Summit, NJ that connects the housed and homeless to establish relationships and forge greater acceptance and understanding. Through the support of more than 2,600 volunteers, Bridges is able to deliver food, clothing and necessities to over 20,000 people in New York City, Newark and Irvington, each year. Their work goes well beyond street outreach. To find out more about this amazing organization, click on the Bridges logo above.
In addition to raising funds, our children will also support Bridges by packing brown bag lunches. We will use a portion of the funds raised, to purchase the items needed to assemble these relied upon meals. This portion of the project will take place on a later date. What a better way to build school spirit, teach our children the importance of helping others and make a difference in our community!
Our goal is to raise $8,000.
All money raised will be donated to Bridges after the purchase of the brown bag lunch supplies.
