Walk & Roll to School Day

October 11th (rain date October 18th)

Glenwood Walk-a-thon

Grab your sneakers!! The annual Glenwood Walk-a-Thon is FRIDAY.

Our Walk-a-Thon is also an official school spirit day! Dress up in green and Glenwood gear. Show your school spirit with green make-up, green hair spray etc!

Glenwood is going GREEN!  Please bring your water in reusable bottles.

Glenwood has partnered with Bridges, a local non-profit organization based in Summit NJ, that helps feed and support the homeless in Northern NJ and New York City. 100% of your donation will benefit the Bridges organization.  A portion of the funds raised will be used to purchase supplies that the children will use to assemble brown-bag lunches which Bridges volunteers distribute to their homeless clients.  The remainder will be given directly to Bridges to support their work.

Math Olympiad

Glenwood PTO is happy to announce that we are sponsoring the Math Olympiad contest membership for 4th graders again this year. Math Olympiad is an international testing platform that offers a challenging 5 problem exam to its participants each month from November through March. There will be 5 total exams, and all will be held virtually. We will have at least one online practice session on Friday or Saturday evening before each contest. Students are expected to participate in the online practice sessions as well as study in groups with other participants and/or on their own from October to March. We will provide some practice exams (tests from past years) to help with preparation. Test dates will be announced soon. Both tests and practice sessions will be virtual. Scores will be recorded individually and as part of Glenwood team. Awards are determined by MOEMS in May-June 2025.

UPCOMING EVENTS

GASA

Fall 2024 GASA session started on Sept 30th.

Please remind your student to go to the MPR (Multi-Purpose Room) after school dismissal on their GASA class day. K & 1 students will be chaperoned to MPR by our hall monitors.

GASA Dismissal

- Please be on time to pick up your student at 4:30 pm from the Gym door for sports classes (Cooperative Team Sports, Coach Jacobs' and basketball) and from the school front door for all other classes. There will be no school bus and no car line service after GASA. Students will be sent to the SAM program after GASA if you selected SAM during the registration.

- Please email your child's homeroom teacher, Mrs.Ng (avis.ng@millburn.org), and GASA chairs (gasa@glenwoodpto.net) on any day your child will not attend GASA or if there is any change in dismissal. We need to make sure all students are accounted for and we appreciate your help in this matter.

Fall Swag is here!

If you purchased SWAG (spirit wear at Glenwood) through our Fall SWAG Sale, all items (except water bottles) will be delivered to students' classrooms to bring home in their backpacks the first half of this week, in time to wear for the Walk-a-Thon.  Hopefully water bottles will make it from our vendor before Friday, and will be distributed as soon as we receive them.  Thanks for your patience.

Every family who utilizes our special lunch program should be volunteering for a lunch shift (11:10am - 1:10PM) at least one time a semester. You can sign up many weeks ahead to work around your schedule. Our lunch program is COMPLETELY volunteer-based and we cannot run it without the help of our parents. As a bonus, the kids love to see their parents at school! You can sign up for volunteer spots using this Sign-Up Genius Link, which is also available at registration, and pick the day that is convenient for you.

Important Message from PTO

We have been able to accommodate late orders and add-ons to registrations considering it is the beginning of the school year and everyone is just getting back into the swing of things, but please be advised that in the future we cannot extend sales and registrations past the initial deadline.

It adds a significant amount of work for our volunteers and is unsustainable.  Deadlines are communicated via the weekly Monday morning newsletter, additional eblasts and are posted on the Glenwood PTO homepage.  We thank you for your understanding and consideration in this matter.
