Greetings From Your Transportation & Safety Representative,

I am Mikhil Masli, a parent of Naira, a Glenwood second grader. As your transportation and safety representative, my role is to advocate for township support to make getting to and from school safer and communicate any safety-related initiatives from the township back to our community. This includes busing, walking/biking safety, crossing guards, and more. This is how it works:

• I represent Glenwood on the Parent-Teacher Organisation Council (PTOC) safety committee. There are representatives from all schools in our district. Currently chaired by Mara Epstein, the PTOC safety committee meets every 1-2 months aligning with the meetings of the PSAB (explained below).
   
• Being the chair, Mara represents the PTOC safety committee on the township’s Pedestrian Safety Advisory Board (PSAB) which advises the township on all matters related to pedestrian (and cycling) safety. The PSAB meets every 1-2 months.
   
• Concerns and advocacy flow from you to me to PTOC to the PSAB to the township and important communication flows the other way.

In addition to this volunteer role, I’m also a cycling enthusiast and zealous advocate. On most good weather days, you may see me dropping off and picking up my kid riding pillion on an extra-long bicycle. Unfortunately, on most days, I’m the only one on pedal power and I’d like to change that. When I’m not ruminating about importing GoCabs and organising bike buses, I’m always open to ideas for making Glenwood the most cycling-friendly school in Millburn.
