Glenwood Mural Project 2023 - School Lobby
“Communities truly benefit from participating and collaborating in the creative process of painting a mural.” - Caren Frost Olmstead
This spring, we are thrilled to host muralist and art educator Caren Frost Olmsted as the entire school transforms the Glenwood school lobby into a 360° custom mural. Every student and our lucky parent volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in this exciting project and leave a lasting mark at our school. Our K-4 students paint their part of the mural on canvases during their regularly scheduled art period. The mural will be installed in the main lobby of our school, where our children, faculty and parent community can see and enjoy it every day. |
Parent Volunteer Opportunities
We will need a lot of parent volunteers to make this mural a masterpiece! From unloading, setting up, and cleaning up the art supplies daily, to painting details in the mural, and installing the final canvases, it will take a Glenwood village to make this project a success!
About Caren Frost Olmsted |
Caren has owned Olmsted Mural Group for 20+ years. Her projects consist of large- and small-scale murals, in educational, community, and corporate settings across the US. Each day holds the promise of something different- new people, new art, new challenges, and she loves it that way. Caren holds a degree in Theater Design from Bates College and a degree in Art Education from Appalachian State University. She also holds a NJ Teaching Certificate. Prior to founding the Olmsted Mural Group, she worked in professional theater as a Set and Lighting Designer and as an Art Educator.
Caren conducts 7+ collaborative mural residencies in school and community settings each year and founded the ARTsee Open Studio Tour in 2010. Her studio is in Basking Ridge, NJ, where she lives with her husband and two sons (her most spectacular creations), and their little black dog.
